Arabian Genetic Discovery & Preservation Program
A PAHC program inspired by Quizzy, a young Arabian stallion whose OAAM case may help identify an additional mutation or genetic pathway not yet represented in current testing.
Program Overview
The Polish Arabian Heritage Conservancy is pleased to introduce a program dedicated to the identification, documentation, and responsible management of rare and emerging genetic conditions within the Arabian horse.
This initiative was developed in response to a real-world case involving a young Arabian stallion known as Quizzy, whose OAAM diagnosis appears inconsistent with currently available testing.
What This Means for Breeders
Genetic knowledge is still evolving. A horse may test negative for a known mutation and still be part of a clinically significant case suggesting that additional variants have not yet been characterized.
Responsible breeding includes not only avoiding known risks, but helping identify the unknown when meaningful cases arise.
Genome Sequencing Goal
One constructive way to respond to Quizzy’s case is to preserve and investigate it scientifically through complete genome sequencing and careful retention of supporting records and samples.
$1,500 Complete Genome Sequencing Goal
Case Identification & Documentation
Encourage reporting of unusual or unexplained conditions and preserve accurate records, pedigree information, imaging, and veterinary documentation for future study.
Sample Preservation & Biobanking
Promote proper collection and retention of blood, tissue, semen, and clinical records so meaningful cases remain available for future research even when immediate grant funding is not yet in place.
Research Collaboration
Work with universities, veterinary geneticists, and equine research programs to support future study of rare or unexplained inherited conditions affecting Arabian horses.
Why This Belongs Within PAHC
Although Quizzy is not from PAHC’s Polish preservation lines, his case highlights a broader truth: long-term preservation depends not only on numbers, but on genetic understanding.
I am also involved in the conservation of historically significant Arabian horse bloodlines, and cases such as this may have broader implications for genetic diversity and preservation breeding.
How You Can Help
Support toward complete genome sequencing and related research costs may help preserve Quizzy’s case as a meaningful contribution to future OAAM knowledge and better protection of the breed.
Program Purpose
PAHC does not advocate fear-based breeding decisions. Instead, this program supports thoughtful evaluation, transparency, scientific engagement, and responsible stewardship in the face of the unknown.
